Dan Trilk began playing guitar at the age of nine. By the age of 12 he had formed his first band “Splat” and was performing original music at school talent shows, ice-cream socials and private parties. He is now a professional musician and music instructor in Des Moines, Iowa.
Currently, Dan is busy with a solo act that showcases his many talents and eclectic tastes in music. This project finds him in nightclubs, coffee houses, restaurants, country clubs, weddings, corporate events, and dive bars. Dan’s original music is a blend of folk, blues, rock and country. His lyrics are introspective and sometimes quirky. Dan’s cover music ranges from rock, pop, folk, blues and country to jazz, lounge and classical guitar. He sometimes uses a loop station to create layers or a backdrop for soloing. He is also a fine whistler and harmonica player.
Dan also plays guitar in the Des Moines based band "rubberface" which is an all origninal experimental jam band. He can also be found performing in a children’s act called “Debbie Doo Wop & Dynamite Dan”. Look for their 2011 release “Cheesy Peas” and 2013 release "Party!"
Although his primary instrument is guitar, Trilk may also be known for his bass guitar work with “The Golden Gods”, a rock & roll power trio that was based out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Their CD “The Thorny Crown of Rock & Roll” gained a wee bit notoriety in the mid 2000’s. Their music has been featured on MTV’s “Homewreckers” & “Fast Inc.”, Tony Hawk’s video game “Downhill Jam”, a Vans commercial, the movie “The Waitress” and most recently Showtime's "Shameless".
