Secondhand Rose is singer-songwriter, Rose Oyamot Rodriguez, whose passion for music has led her to perform in many a coffeehouse, bookstore, and dimly lit bar scene. Often going by her on-stage moniker, Secondhand Rose has been performing her original folk/rock songs since 1997. Her well-crafted songs combined with earnest and emotional vocals garnered positive response. Secondhand Rose gained appreciative listeners because of her humor, enthusiasm and pure enjoyment in "spreading the love" through her music. From her roots in Hawaii and her hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada, Rose sang her way to Minneapolis, Minnesota. While in Minneapolis, Rose fell into singing jazz and formed a hot club band called Honeysuckle Rose. In 2006, Honeysuckle Rose released a well-praised, self-titled cd.
In 2009, Rose and her husband relocated to Des Moines, Iowa. At this time, Rose's music was calling her back. This seemed like the perfect time for Secondhand Rose music to be reborn. Recently, Rose became involved in the Des Moines music scene. She performs at local open mics and was a featured artist at the Des Moines Social Club's Open Circus. Rose continues to sing with Honeysuckle Rose for special events. Her other musical projects include singing with an all-female acapella group called Roslyn Stone. Currently, Rose is recording her first full-length Secondhand Rose album.
